Pinoy Jr MasterChef - Offsite, Catch Up & Creativity Challenge

Saturday, 22 October 2011 and Sunday, 23 October 2011 have been busy days for the remaining Pinoy Jr MasterChefs.

 Focaccia Bread

On Saturday, as part of the Offsite Challenge, the kids made bread roll and focaccia bread. According to Wikipedia, "bread roll is a piece of bread, usually small and round and is commonly considered a side dish." " Focaccia bread on the other hand, is a flat oven-baked Italian bread, which may be topped with herbs or other ingredients."

The Jr MasterChefs were divided into 2 groups, the yellow team headed by Louise and the green team headed by Gilbert. The two teams have their bad and good points. Eventually, the 6 points went to the yellow team and 3 points to the green team.

Whisking Egg Whites

On Sunday, the kids participated in the Catch up Challenge so that those in the bottom line could accumulate additional points and escape possible elimination. The first task was manually whisking egg whites, followed by cooking poach eggs. Egg poaching is the best and healthy method of cooking eggs. The egg is added to boiling water with vinegar while constantly stirring it.

A silog is composed of SInangag (fried rice) and itLOG (egg). This is combined with other ingredients to come up with a ____silog.

The winner of this challenge who got 6 points was Caitlin for her "Rice in Ampalaya Silog". Jobim got 4 points, Tricia got 2 and 1 point each for Miko and Gilbert.

The 18 kids cried when Gino (Yang) bid goodbye to Pinoy Jr MasterChefs to attend an international summer camp in China.
